Machined Disc Blank is used where a forged circular blank is preferred for dimensional stability, material homogeneity, and lower downstream risk. The part is usually purchased with enough stock for drilling, facing, boring, or pattern machining so that the customer can maintain machining accuracy without sacrificing the forged structure.
Machined disc blanks combine forging with preliminary machining so that customers can shorten downstream cycle time and improve datum control. This is useful when later drilling, boring, or finish machining must start from a more consistent pre-machined condition.
