This product is intended for customers who prefer a forged disc delivered in a semi-machined condition rather than as-forged. Typical operations may include facing, OD preparation, center marking, or rough boring depending on the part design. It is suitable for projects that require a better machining starting point for discs, covers, rotor parts, or other round heavy components. Disc-type forgings of this class are often purchased when the customer needs a solid circular preform with better section integrity than plate cuttings or cast alternatives can provide. Typical downstream operations include turning, boring, facing, balancing, and profile machining for heavy round parts, rotor components, covers, or other functional discs. According to the application, the blank can also be arranged with rough machining, heat treatment, and inspection so that later finishing work starts from a more stable forged base.
